SCREEN to exhibit at both Loupe Americas and Printing United in September

by Matthew Callahan

The ‘Fall’ trade show season in the United States can be a crowded time for visitors with footprints across several industries. Where Print and Packaging are concerned, this September sees LOUPE (formerly Labelexpo Americas) in Chicago, September 15-17 and Printing United in Las Vegas, September 23-25.

SCREEN is exhibiting at both trade fairs with a focus on labels and flexible packaging at LOUPE and general commercial print, publishing and direct mail at Printing United.

SCREEN GP Australia Managing Director Peter Scott notes: “I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the number of Australian and New Zealand customers requesting working demonstrations while in the USA. Together with our label and packaging channel partner Jet Technologies, who will have personnel at both shows, local customers will have the opportunity to see actual production of the Truepress LABEL 350 SAI, production samples from the Truepress PAC 830F flexible packaging press and the Truepress JET 560HDX commercial web press of which there are now 17 installed in the USA. The six-day gap between the trade shows is actually quite useful for arranging these site visits.”

SCREEN’s showing at Loupe will focus on a fully optioned Truepress LABEL 350UV-SAI-S model with CMYK+ White inks plus optional Orange, Blue and Digital Primer to extend the range of labelstocks it can print on. Alongside will be a GM DC350 Mini finishing line for die-cutting, slitting and rewinding. This combination (inline and offline) has proven highly successful globally in the short-to-medium run digital label sector, running at up to 60 metres/min across its 350 mm web.

Third party software will also be running from Color-Logic and Danish web-to-print developer LabelHub. Although not SCREEN products, these are recommended by the company and there are Australian-New Zealand customers using them together with L350 presses. Support is via either LabelHub’s online platform or the local CERM office.

For the Printing United show the following week, SCREEN will present a static-displayed Truepress JET 560HDX and plenty of work samples and customer experience stories. The 560HDX has taken off like a rocket in the USA, with 80% of available machines going into that market. It was recently certified by Printing United as a digital press capable of meeting or exceeding Offset quality. With an extra wide 560 mm web and speed up to 150 metres/min on standard offset papers, it is ideal as either an entry into digital printing or a digital replacement for offset, requiring no plates, little wastage and the ability to print on-demand ‘a book of one’ or long runs as called for.
