High-quality, sustainable solutions from Weltrade Packaging

by Matthew Callahan

Packaging products for the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, beauty and wellness industries requires a fine balance between often intricate, high-quality design to maximise shelf appeal, and the need to find sustainable solutions. As Weltrade Packaging demonstrated at APPEX, that balance can be achieved.

Josh Robel, Sales & Marketing Manager for Weltrade Packaging, says it’s all in answer to a growing push by consumers and manufacturers of everything from skincare to food supplements, for packaging which minimises environmental impact.

“We have had a lot of interest for our packaging on show, which has a strong focus on sustainable plastics which can be easily recycled and, in some cases, even bio-degrade in landfill,” he explained, saying the company is moving away from non-recyclable acrylics and pouches, and pushing more PE, PET and PP products, guided by the APCO covenants and guidelines.

“There is definitely an increased awareness and demand for sustainability, but at the same time, manufacturers of things like cosmetics, skincare, pharmaceuticals and supplements are not prepared to compromise on the look and feel of the product – they still want that shelf appeal and high-end customer experience.

“By showcasing the kind of results that can be achieved by labelling and shrink wraps, direct silkscreen or offset printing, as well as embellishment techniques like hot foil or custom tooling, we can demonstrate that it’s absolutely possible to find the balance between appearance and sustainability.”

Weltrade Packaging manufactures many of its wide range of tubes, bottles, jars, pouches, pumps and sprays at its own manufacturing facility on the Gold Coast, with local products complemented by options sourced from reliable, offshore partners.
