Jet Technologies and SCREEN GP Australia have installed a SCREEN Truepress L350UV + LM digital press at Pharmaprint, a leading supplier of printed foil and foil laminate materials to the pharmaceutical, healthcare and associated industries.
The L350UV + LM is a low-migration UV ink option specifically designed to meet food packaging-compliant regulations for non-direct food-contact print. The low-migration inks comply with the EuPIA Exclusion Policy for Printing Inks & Related Products, Swiss Ordinance and Nestlé Guidance. Their use significantly lowers the risk of ink migration and typical UV odour.
The inks are produced with a proprietary formula enabling a wider CMYK colour gamut than ordinary inks. The L350UV + LM press is available with CMYK, Orange and Opaque White. Combining them with orange ink widens the colour gamut. Corporate colours that usually require spot colours can be reproduced with complete accuracy, while the visual appeal of fruits and other foods can also be captured more vividly.
With their combination of small droplet heads and Truepress inks with reduced thickness, Truepress L350UV + LM models deliver a more natural appearance with less unevenness of the cured ink surface. They also achieve a smoother finish with decreased ink buildup, an issue with conventional UV inkjet systems.
The Truepress Jet L350UV + LM also features SCREEN’s nitrogen purge mechanism installed in the system’s UV lamp section. The presence of oxygen can inhibit UV ink curing. This innovative technology reduces extractable ink components after printing, lowering density to an absolute minimum to accelerate curing.
Operating at a maximum print speed of 60m/min, the SCREEN L350UV + LM will provide greater flexibility and increased productivity, which will assist in meeting the demands of Pharmaprint’s growing client base.
