Print & Pack completes high profile installations across ANZ

by Matthew Callahan

Print & Pack Australia and New Zealand has had a busy couple of months with completing installations on both sides of the Tasman for several of their prestigious principals.

In February, a high-profile Sydney multinational folding carton manufacturer took delivery of its latest innovation – the Mastercut 145PER 2.0 – from Bobst. The local installation team led by Pascal Foglietta performed the challenging installation and commissioning task.

The size 6 (1050 x 1450 mm) Bobst Autoplaten technology is equipped with the latest generation Smart feeder with Automatic Pile Transfer (APT) logistics and empty pallet palletiser from Krifft & Zipsner (K&Z) along with the unrivalled Power Register of 2nd generation to drive this die-cutter up to a maximum stroke rate of 9,500 sheets/hour. This makes it the most productive die-cutter of its size in Australasia.

The Mastercut 145PER 2.0 complements an existing Bobst SP 142CER II providing the foundation for future growth. This is the second investment for the group within 12 months and follows a Bobst Novacut 106ER 3.0 installed in Perth, Western Australia.

A leading Auckland-based folding carton manufacturer installed a high-end Baumerhhs Xtend3 glue application system with fully integrated quality control devices from Print & Pack New Zealand. The Xtend3 16-channel controller is equipped with the latest generation PX-1000 applicating heads, allowing stitch glue applications at higher outputs, thus reducing glue consumption and saving adhesive costs.

Integrated quality control devices, i.e. glue monitoring through side seam detection and extrusion glue scanning, code reading, as well as position control via skew monitoring, are operated from the same 21.5-inch HMI touch screen as setting up the glue application parameters.

This is another example of the diverse engineering and training skills within the Print & Pack organisation. Pascal Foglietta headed up this task following a similar installation and training intervention in Sydney earlier in the month.

Renowned commercial and packaging printer PrintLounge in Auckland has chosen another Komori to sit alongside the existing GL437 HUV offset press. Being familiar with the Komori’s reliability and productivity, the company upgraded to a larger format 40-inch size machine in order to capture an extended client audience. The latest investment will cater for more packaging and commercial work.

The press further enhances productivity with the impressive latest generation PQA-S camera system ensuring the quality of any printed sheet. Owner Steve Sheppard says he is delighted with his new investment and looks forward to expanding the business with the new Komori GL440 LED-UV.

New South Wales, Australia also received another new offset press from the renowned Japanese manufacturer Komori.   A high-profile packaging printer in Sydney is the proud owner of a new generation Komori GL740 offset press which has become their flagship printing machine within their manufacturing facility.

The raised seven-colour plus UV/IR/HA coater Komori press is configured with all the latest enhancements including: PQA-S inline inspection camera system, KHS-AI smart sequence and high-speed start-up,  A-APC simultaneous plate change with parallel control, PDC-SX with PDF comparator and a PQA-S sheet numbering system.

The full spec, state-of-the-art 40” inch GL series ensures the highest print quality, quick changeover, optimum productivity and gives the printer’s client base the assurance of having each sheet inspected during the production run. This is such an important criterion today for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry that ultimate quality is not just printed and inspected but also documented through the process.

Print & Pack Australia & New Zealand reports the latest installation that just completed in February of 2024.
