Currie Group announces first ANZ HP 200K sale to Ultra Labels & Flexpack

by Matthew Callahan

At Labelexpo Americas Currie Group announced the sale of its first HP Indigo 200K Digital Press in the ANZ region to long-time customer Ultra Labels & Flexpack, which operates in Queensland, NSW and South Australia.

Ross Fursey, Johnny Marusic and the team at Ultra Labels are very familiar with HP Indigo presses, having previously installed multiple HP Indigo models across its sites. The company embraced digital print technologies from its inception in 2009. The shared conviction of the founding members was that digital printing offered customers superior labelling solutions and greater flexibility in an unrivalled time to market.

Currie Group’s Mark Daws, Director Labels & Packaging ANZ, noted: “The HP Indigo 200K Digital Press is the next iteration of Series 3 and 4 and is well suited to digital labels and flexible packaging – primarily flexible packaging which we see as a big growth opportunity. We are excited to see how this cutting-edge technology will grow Ultra Labels’ production capabilities, delivering unmatched quality and efficiency for labels and flexible packaging.”

The HP Indigo 200K Digital Press on show at Labelexpo Americas also featured a new add-on slitter, which allows converters to seamlessly use their HP Indigo 200K press to print pressure-sensitive labels, flexible packaging and shrink-sleeves, slit on press and then convert the slitted roll-on narrow web devices.

“This simple solution will be well-received in the ANZ marketplace, where many of our customers started life in labels and are now migrating into new industry segments such as flexible packaging, which is actually the fastest-growing digital segment,” observed Mark Daws. “The ability to switch between the flexible packaging and label applications and print pressure-sensitive labels, flexible packaging and shrink sleeve stock on the same day will be a game-changer for our customers.”
